Q: What influenced you to conduct part of your business in India?
A: Because of the very specialist skills I use in my work. I use ancient couture techniques such as engraving, stone carving, enameling, jaali and embossed work. I also get many stones cut especially for my designs. I have a team of wonderful goldsmiths and stone cutters in Jaipur. Many of these techniques can only be done here and I have developed very strong working relationships with my goldsmiths. Jaipur is also a gemstone cutting center.Q: Why is Jaipur important to your jewellery designs?
A: I am constantly inspired by the colour, light, motifs, and patterns I see everywhere around me. I also have access to pretty much any kind of gemstone here as it is has been a gem trading center for centuries.
Q: Why do you spend time between Jaipur and London?
A: Jaipur is where I design and manufacture but London is the base from which I sell my work. So I move between the two places.
Q: What’s the most exciting thing to happen to you in the last 6 months?
A: Filming with the BBC for the series the Real Hotel Exotic Marigold in and around Jaipur with a host of celebrities. It was a lot of fun. Being hosted by the EU Ambassadors wife in Delhi to do a show for all of the Ambassadors wives and being commissioned by the EU Ambassador in Delhi to make some cufflinks for his 50th birthday.

A: Plans for 2016 include the trade shows Inhorgentha I will be in the British Pavilion and Paris Fashion Week and increasing the wholesale business. I am also hoping to sell to more high end resort wear outlets as my designs have a very luxebohemian sensibility and are suited to that market as well as fashion boutiques. Also alongside my more commercial collection, I am designing more and more one of a kind pieces of jewellery for private clients. I am also focusing a lot on building up sales on my website and developing and selling on other high end websites such as Wolf & Badger, Haute Elan and Pommier.
Q: Where are you stocked in the UK?
A: Melissa Odabash in Chelsea and Notting Hill, Gallery 196 Primrose Hill, March, Fenwick, The Cross Shop, Wolf & Badger, Haute Elan.
Q: How important do you think it is to have an international outlook at a jewellery designer?
A: Very important. I do pop up shows all over the world, including in India, Italy, Sri Lanka, Ibiza, USA and the UK. in Jaipur I host jewellery salons in my apartment for visitors from all over the world. My clients are from many different countries. I have also made inroads into the USA wholesale market and hope to continue to do so. I have exhibited at Accessories Circuit in NYC.
